Hello Michelle

You firstly need to know the exact cause. You ought to see your GP and get him or her to refer you to a Trichologist specialising Endocrinologist. They can conduct a few tests....blood tests and hair sample analysis to hopefully get to the root cause. The treatment option(s) will depend on what they find. Before you see a Trichologist you could ask your GP to test for hypothyroidism.....this often can be one major cause of hair loss in women. You could also enquire about the possibility of having polycystic ovarian syndrome....the latter which might cause scalp hair loss and/or male pattern baldness as well as hair in unwanted places [hirsutism].

You could try pumpkin seed oil diluted in a little olive oil or jojoba oil or blackseed oil and massage this into the affected part of the scalp. This might address male pattern baldness if that should be the underlying problem. But you would still need to address the root cause. Drinking lots of mint [spearmint or peppermint] tea might help also.

Sweat, dirt and grime around the rim inhibit follicle health and contribute to build up. Extreme hair loss and thinning could also be the side effects of a medical condition or medication and it helps to consult a dermatologist.

Strive for balance and harmony in both your personal and professional life. High stress factors lead to fluctuating hormone levels, which in turn cause excessive oil secretion (sebum) resulting in hair loss. Stress can be dealt with in many ways, most notably through exercise, adequate sleep, healthy diet and techniques like relaxation, exercises, deep breathing and yoga.
hey i this will answer your question here are some vitamins that are really essential for growth of healthy hair.

Vitamin B: This vitamin is one of the most crucial and important of all the vitamins in promoting growth of healthy hair. This vitamin is found in its natural form in whole grains, fresh fruit, brewer's yeast, eggs, fish, turkey, meat, and milk.

Vitamin A:This vitamin is good for keeping your skin tissue and hair follicles supple. Good source of vitamin A is eggs, meat, milk, cheese, cream, liver, kidney, cod, and fish oil.

Vitamin C:This vitamin is essential for generating new cell in the body. And off course healthy hair is part of the process. Natural source of vitamin C is all kinds of citrus fruits and some other fruits and vegetables like kiwis, strawberries, pineapples, tomatoes, and green and red peppers.

Vitamin E:This vitamin is a known antioxidant. It is good for blood circulation to all part of the body including to the scalp area. This vitamin also looks after your immune system and a healthy body promotes hair growth. Some of the natural source vitamin C is green leafy vegetables, whole grains, and nuts.

Without these nutrients either as vitamin supplements or in diets as a natural source, our body will become deficient in the most essential vitamins necessary for healthy growth of hair.
There are several treatment options that may help to stimulate and encourage hair growth. If hair loss occurs as a result of an underlying condition or disease, then the condition needs to be treated first. The various types of hair loss are treated with specific medication which includes antibiotics, corticosteroids, or steroid injections. For more serious episodes of hair loss, surgical procedures such as hair transplants, scalp reduction or skin grafts may be performed to replace hair loss.

Natural and holistic therapy offers a gentler alternative for people experiencing hair loss than the harsh effects of conventional medication. Treatments such as herbal and homeopathic remedies stimulate and encourage hair growth as well as support blood circulation, hormonal balance and thyroid functioning.

Herbal remedies along with good nutritional diet (supplements in case of severe deficiency or if directed by your doctor) help hair grow stronger and more plentifully by nourishing it at the roots. They achieve this by stimulating blood flow and supplying nutrients to the hair follicles and hence promoting healthy hair growth and slowing down excessive hair loss. Although the process begins within a few days, as the hair grow slowly, the results are visible only after a few months.

Herbs commonly used include Ginkgo biloba, Rosmarinus officinale and Xanthoxylum clavaherculis help to promote strong, abundant hair. Other powerful herbs such as Equisetum arvense, Avena sativa and Echinacea are effective combating hair loss and nourishing hair follicles.

In order to regrow hair you need to get to the bottom of what is causing the hair loss. Alot of times hypo or hyperthyroidism can cause hair loss. Low iron can also be a reason why. I've done alot of trial and error and this is what I do: I take iodine to support my thyroid, iron pills for my anemia, include coconut oil in my diet everyday (and even use as a deep conditioner once a month), take 5000 mg of biotin and use a dab of borax mixed in with my shampoo. My hair loss has greatly improved and my hair is healthier and thicker. Be patient b/c it can take weeks or even months to notice a real difference. If I were you I would get my horomones and whatnot tested to see if you are deficient in anything. Best of luck!
Please go to the Women's Hair Loss Project site. All the info, help and friendship you could possibly need. I belong to the group as well and after 5 years of hair loss, my hair is finally growing back.

Do yourself a favour and join. If you would like to look me up there, my name is Hope4.

Good luck!

P.S. The kind of hair loss you are explaining sounds a lot like androgenetic alopecia, so maybe you can start your research from this point. :)
Ordinarily when a women your age has hair loss, it is not out of the ordinary for alternative health practitioners like myself to take a look at your thyroid levels. More than likely you suffer from low thyroid levels. Be warned ahead of time that if you run to you MD and have them run tests you may still fall into the ';normal range'; of thyroid levels. That does not mean that your thyroid isn't running low. Ordinary thyroid ranges are based on average ranges, more frightening average is considered 50 yr old males. I would suggest going to vitacost.com and ordering thyroid support complex, we swear by it and have seen wonderful quick results with female hair loss all even into the 70-80 yr old females. Good Luck to you.

Go and see a doctor. It may well be due to a hormonal problem that can be simply cured.

Alternative medicine people frequently have no medical training and certainly do not have the diagnostic equipment, skills or access to laboratory facilities to diagnose health problems.

(Though they're great at selling you rubbish from their own websites!)
Two egg white mixed with two tablespoon of yogurt can be applied for 30 minutes and then washed, when done at least once a week controls hair loss . Check out http://usefulinfo-hairfall.blogspot.com/ for more info.
I have been told shampoo and rinse with tea tree oil is supposed to help. I don't know if it will promote regrowth, but might help with future loss.
Try almond oil.
