Is is possibel for a ferret to have adrenal disease with the absense of the main symptom? (hair loss)?

My male ferret (age 5) is experiencing difficulty in using his hind legs - The left more than the right. The vet told me it could be a sign or advance adrenal disease or lymphoma. His lymph nodes and spleen do not seem to be swollen, so lymphoma is probably not the case. However, difficulty using the hind legs seems to be one of the last symptoms of adrenal disease - The first and most prominent symptom being hair loss. My ferrets has not experienced any hair loss. He did lose some weight and was quite a bit larger when he was a young (1-2 years old) ferret, but all my ferrets seem to have gotten slightly smaller as they advance in age. He did not seem to display excessive drinking and urinating, or increased scratching. And the hind-leg weakness seems to have come on rather suddenly. Does anyone have any additional information for me?Is is possibel for a ferret to have adrenal disease with the absense of the main symptom? (hair loss)?
Did your vet do blood-work? Hind leg weakness can be caused by A LOT of things not just insulinoma or adrenal tumors. If your ferret is not exhibiting any other symptoms it is hard to diagnose this without the help of your vet. Here is a link that can give you some insight...but you really need to communicate with your vet on this one.

it's possible that it would still be adrenal disease (not every animal follows the typical timeline of symptoms), but not very likely. have they checked his sugar to make sure it's not insulinoma? weakness of the hind end is a symptom of that, too, and was the first thing my ferret showed when he was diagnosed. if it's not sporadic, and seems to be a permanent thing, it's possible it's an injury as well. were x-rays done?

CBC bloodwork, glucose tests %26amp; x-rays should be able to narrow it down for you. it's not cheap to do to all at once, but may be worth it if there is treatment for what's wrong. give the fur-beastie a pat of good luck for me.
